Dartford v Eastbourne Borough

Saturday’s goalless draw means Dartford play Eastbourne Borough for a second time in a week.

The Darts host the Sussex club in the F.A Trophy third qualifying round replay and a win will be rewarded with a first round tie at Brackley Town.

On the weekend Dartford dominated the first half at Priory Lane with very few chances created. Jacob Erskine powered a header wide and a couple of long range efforts never really tested Clark Masters in the Eastbourne goal. Jon Wallis pulled the strings in the first half and he almost put the Darts ahead.

The home side improved in the second half with the blustery conditions behind them. Eastbourne’s Ben Watson squandered a one on one with Louis Wells and Dartford’s Adam Green hit the corner of the woodwork from a swirling cross. James Rogers last minute volley across goal was acrobatically cleared over Eastbourne’s goal by defender Ollie Rowe to end a goalless ninety minutes.

Tony Burman spoke to PURE DFC after the match and said: “We did really well keeping the ball in the windy conditions. We just lacked that bit of quality to test their keeper. I can’t fault the commitment and I can’t fault the way the players played. I am pleased with the draw and the effort they put in was back to normal”.

New signing Tony Garrod will hope to play a bigger part in the replay than his eight minute substitute appearance on the weekend. Burman commented: “We’ll give him a chance, I’ve let Jack go out on loan to VCD Athletic but unfortunatley Jack has ended up getting injured in training on Thursday, so it looks like he won’t be playing for a couple of weeks. Tony has come in and we’ll give him the opportunity to have a chance and see what he can do”.

Elliot Bradbrook will return from is one match suspension for picking up five cautions. The Sports will be without Rikki Banks who re joined Lewes on loan and Gary Charman is doubtful after he withdrew with a head injury on Saturday.
