Dartford v Ebbsfleet United

Dartford host rivals Ebbsfleet United as the two sides replay their F.A Cup tie for a place in the first round.

Victory will ensure a place in the proper rounds and a chance to take on fellow Conference Premier side Salisbury City.

For the second season in a row the Darts and the Fleet couldn’t be separated at Stonebridge Road in front of almost 3000 fans. Once again it was the visitors who failed to hold on to their lead. Ebbsfleet United missed a glorious chance to edge in front when goalkeeper Alan Julian conceded a penalty, which was blazed over the crossbar by Ben May on 11 minutes.

Just before the half time interval Dartford midfielder Lee Noble edged the visitors ahead. Following up from a blocked effort Noble guided the ball into Preston Edwards’s net. In the windy conditions Ebbsfleet United salvaged their place in the draw. Two former Chelmsford City players linked up to create the equaliser. Billy Bricknell cut the ball back to Anthony Cook just past the hour to make it 1-1.

Tony Burman was pleased to get a replay and told www.newshopper, “The pressure was on us to win the game today and we haven’t, but I’m delighted with the performance of the players, especially as we were depleted as a squad”, he added: “Losing five members of your squad is not easy and it was a big ask for us coming here with that in mind”.

When talking about a potential first round fixture Burman commented: “We’ve got to get the replay out of the way first before we can even think about what might await in the next round”.

Last season at Princes Park the side who went ahead also failed to make it count. In a Conference Premier clash Liam Enveer-Marum opened the scoring for the Fleet but Harry Crawford restored parity four minutes later. The striker added another on 68 minutes and Elliot Bradbrook put the game beyond doubt ten minutes from time.

Team News

Strikers Matthew Godden and Adam Birchall are unavailable because their parent clubs don’t want them cup tied. The Darts included new signing Tommy Forecast on the bench as goalkeeper cover. On the injury front Jason Prior and Tyrone Sterling are unlikely to feature and Kenny Clark may return.

Ebbsfleet United could be without injured duo Shane Huke and Jon Howe. Huke started in Saturday but was unable to complete the full ninety minutes.
